FAWN
We build shit...with our hands...
in the heart of Appalachia.
OUR STORY
Fawn Musical Instruments was born from not knowing what to do with my hands half the time. I’ve always had to stay busy to keep my radar on a straightened arrow so to say. When I’m working with my hands, it helps ground me much like when I play a musical instrument. Early on in my life, I liked to tinker with tactile activities such as carving, gardening, messing with sound equipment, and fooling around with the workings of musical instruments at my first job (I worked at a small music shop as a teenager where I did the bitch work). This led me to a path where I dove deeper over time, when I had time, to learn about how musical instruments were put together. I met Wayne Henderson and later visited his shop in Rugby, Virginia. I also met Doug Naselroad in Hindman, Kentucky (kudos to the work he does with folks in recovery) and they all pointed me in the right direction to building instruments (in their own ways). After colossal bags of shit in the context of trials and errors and failures and frustrations, I started to realize “the journey is usually the part you remember anyways" and leaned into the methodology of this. Now, after all that junk, here we have it! I’m officially launching Fawn Musical Instruments & Refurb.
